Inspired by the Great Commission, we exist to fight spiritual and physical poverty.

About Set in Motion

My daughter Nancy Brito founded Set in Motion when she was in college in 2013 to meet the physical and spiritual needs of impoverished people in developing countries who have not yet been reached with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

We hope to accomplish this two-fold mission by connecting individual Christians and bible-believing churches in the U.S. with impoverished communities abroad and by building long-term relationships that allow for evangelism, meaningful discipleship, and church planting.

Meeting Physical Needs

Our mission to meet physical needs started with providing bikes to people in Citalapa, Nicaragua, where bikes are an important means of transportation.

As we connected with other communities in both Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic, we recognized that physical needs vary greatly from one community to the next. So, our mission to meet physical needs has grown beyond just supplying bikes to identifying and meeting the specific needs of a given community.

We’re very thankful that God has used Set in Motion to alleviate poverty in a small way while reaching people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Since 2014, Set in Motion has sponsored 13 mission trips to Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. We have been blessed to be able provide the following material relief to people in four impoverished communities:

  • 340 bibles

  • 85 bikes

  • 600 food packages

  • 200 pairs of work boots for men

  • 100 pairs of shoes for women

  • 170 machetes for field work

  • 100 containers of fertilizer

  • Uniforms, school supplies and Christmas gift boxes for over 150 children

  • Materials and supplies for Christian retreat center $32,000

  • The total value of these critical resources exceeds $59,000.

Meeting Spiritual Needs

Even more important than alleviating physical poverty, we are committed to pointing people to the glory of God and to salvation through faith in the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Between 2014 and 2015 the spiritual mission and vision of Set in Motion grew from a ministry focused largely on short-term evangelism to one focused on building long-term relationships that allow for meaningful discipleship and church planting.

We hope to accomplish this mission by connecting individual Christians and bible-believing churches in the U.S. with impoverished communities abroad that don’t have material resources or a sound foundation in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
